Sommerfugl ved Stengade Pavillonen / Butterfly near the Stengade Pavilion

Sommerfugl ved Stengade Pavillonen (ENGLISH TRANSLATION AT THE BOTTOM)

Butterfly near the Stengade Pavillon

Nobody should ever dare to think that we don’t have a varied animal life here in Nørrebro, central Copenhagen.

My camera caught this beautiful admiral butterfly (Vanessa Atalanta) while I was watering the flowers and plants outside the Stengade Pavillon where I volunteer.
This particular type of butterfly is attracted by late blooming flowers and fermenting windfall fruit, and is thus a frequent visitor in our little communal city garden in Nørrebro here in September.
The admiral is a migratory butterfly who arrive from southern Europe to Denmark early summer – Juni or July.
It is especially frequent in the Danish gardens in the very last of the summer.
I’m quite amazed that this butterfly was willing to sit still long enough for me to take a bunch of pictures of it. Usually butterflies fly away before I even take my camera out.
